Quick answer: The tourist train between Seoul Station and Dorasan, near the DMZ, resumed in April 2026 after six years, with one round trip on the second and fourth Fridays of each month. Explera DMC Korea plans DMZ days around it where the dates fit, and by coach when they do not.
What is the Seoul-Dorasan train?
Korail runs the train with the Ministry of Unification, the Ministry of National Defense, Gyeonggi Province and Paju City. It resumed in April 2026 after a six-year suspension, with regular runs from 24 April.
There is one round trip on the second and fourth Fridays of each month. Passengers must book in advance and show identification to enter the Civilian Control Zone.
Who is it for?
- Rail and history groups. Arriving at Dorasan, the northernmost passenger station in South Korea, is part of the story.
- Small groups. A train day suits groups that can fit a fixed Friday schedule.
- Not every itinerary. Larger groups and other days still need a coach.
How we plan the day
- Check the Friday. We match the group's dates to the second or fourth Friday before quoting.
- Passports ready. We confirm the ID rules for foreign passport holders with the operator at booking.
- Coach as back-up. Access in the border area can change at short notice, so we keep a coach plan ready.
