Quick answer: Korean Air flies nonstop between Seoul Incheon and Melbourne three times a week from 18 December 2026 to 14 March 2027, with a Boeing 787-9, taking over the seasonal flights Asiana used to run. Explera DMC Korea builds Australian group programmes in Korea around these summer-season dates.
What has Korean Air announced?
Korean Air announced in August 2026 that it will fly between Seoul Incheon and Melbourne from 18 December 2026 to 14 March 2027. Flights leave Incheon on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, on a Boeing 787-9.
It is the first Korean Air service to Melbourne since 2013. The route takes over the seasonal Melbourne flights Asiana Airlines had operated since December 2023, following the merger of the two airlines.
Why the season matters for Australian groups
- Summer holidays, Korean winter. The flights cover the Australian summer break, when Korea offers snow, winter festivals and illuminations.
- Seasonal, not year-round. After 14 March 2027 groups need another routing until a new season is filed.
- Three days a week. Arrival and departure days follow the flight days, so the ground programme is built to fit them.
How do we plan around the flights?
- Arrival day. The overnight flight from Melbourne reaches Incheon early in the morning, so we plan a light first day and request early check-in where hotels allow it.
- Winter content. We combine Seoul with ski resorts, winter festivals or Busan and Jeju, depending on the group.
- Schedules change. We confirm flight times with the agency or its consolidator before the ground quote is final.
