Korean War Heritage Tours for Groups: A B2B Guide

29 September 2026 · Explera Trade Desk · 6 min read

Quick answer: A Korean War heritage programme is built on two sites: the War Memorial of Korea in Seoul, a large museum of the 1950–53 war with an outdoor display of aircraft and armour, and the UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea in Busan, the world's only UN cemetery. The DMZ adds the armistice line itself. Wreath-laying needs to be arranged in advance, and the week of 11 November is the busiest time in Busan. Many travellers are veterans' families or elderly, so pace and access matter as much as the sites. Explera DMC Korea plans ceremonies, guides and the Seoul–Busan rail link.

Who travels for this

  • Veterans' families and descendants, often visiting a specific grave or unit history. The veterans themselves are now in their nineties.
  • Associations and regimental groups travelling around an anniversary or a remembrance date.
  • History and school groups, for whom the war explains the Korea they see today.
  • General groups adding a half-day of context between palaces and the DMZ.

The two anchor sites

  • The War Memorial of Korea, Yongsan, Seoul: a large museum of Korean military history centred on the 1950–53 war, with aircraft and armour displayed outside. Allow at least half a day.
  • The UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea, Busan: the only UN cemetery in the world, where servicemen from countries that fought under the UN flag are buried. It is quiet and formal, and groups are expected to behave accordingly.
  • The DMZ adds the armistice line itself. Our DMZ guide covers access rules and booking.

Ceremonies and wreath-laying

  • Request a wreath-laying in advance, with the group's name, nationality, numbers and preferred time. We source the wreath.
  • The week of 11 November is the busiest. The Turn Toward Busan remembrance takes place that day, and official delegations fill Busan's hotels and the cemetery's schedule. Book early for that week.
  • Brief the group on conduct: sober dress, quiet voices, and photography that respects the graves and other visitors.
  • Give the guide the family stories before arrival, so a visit to one grave is handled with care.

Pacing and care

  • Elderly travellers need short walks, seating and lifts. We check wheelchair loan and step-free routes at each site.
  • Leave space after the cemetery. A free evening works better than a full programme on an emotional day.
  • Korea's veterans ministry has long run a revisit programme for UN veterans and their families. Eligibility and places are set by the ministry, so check with the relevant embassy or veterans' association before building a commercial trip around it.
  • Link Seoul and Busan by KTX and forward the luggage, so older travellers are not carrying cases through stations.

Planned with care

Explera DMC Korea arranges the visits, ceremonies and wreaths, briefs guides on the group's own history, and plans a pace that suits elderly travellers. A 24/7 operations desk on Korean ground time covers the whole programme.

Send your dates, pax and group profile to b2b@explera.kr or WhatsApp +66 93 656 8090. Explera DMC Korea is IATA TIDS-registered (96215733) and an ASTA member (#900408341); our KTO and KATA registrations are in application.
