Quick answer: The Hangang Bus is Seoul's commuter ferry on the Han River. It began on 18 September 2025 and passed 600,000 riders a year later, linking seven piers from Magok to Jamsil. Explera DMC Korea uses it as a short river leg for small groups and free time, not as a group charter.
What it is
- A public ferry. A scheduled commuter service run for the city, not a sightseeing cruise.
- Seven piers. Magok, Mangwon, Yeouido, Apgujeong, Oksu, Ttukseom and Jamsil.
- Its first year. Service began on 18 September 2025, paused after a grounding near Jamsil in November for a safety overhaul, and the full route resumed on 1 March 2026.
- Reliability. On-time performance rose from 97.7% in March to 99.3% in July 2026, according to the city.
Where it fits for groups
- Small groups. A Yeouido to Jamsil leg can replace a coach transfer and show the city from the river.
- Free time. Clients can use it on their own between programme days.
- Not a charter. We have found no group charter product. For a private sailing, we book a Han River cruise instead.
What we check first
- Timetables. Departures change with the season, so we confirm them for your date.
- Commuters. The boats are shared with commuters; we avoid rush hours.
- Weather. River conditions can suspend sailings, so the coach stays on standby.
- Group size. Large groups are better served by a coach and a chartered cruise.

A commuter ferry on the Han River in Seoul. It began on 18 September 2025 and carried more than 600,000 passengers in its first year.
Which piers does it serve?
Seven piers: Magok, Mangwon, Yeouido, Apgujeong, Oksu, Ttukseom and Jamsil.
Can a tour group charter a Hangang Bus?
We have found no charter product. It is a scheduled public service. For an exclusive sailing, Explera DMC Korea books a Han River cruise.
Is it suitable for large groups?
It suits small groups and free time better. Boats are shared with commuters and sailings can be suspended in bad weather, so large groups stay on a coach with a chartered cruise.
